LessonsI teach using an eclectic approach that is customized for each student. Depending on the interests of my students, my lessons are usually a mix of the following:
The cost of lessons usually ranges between $140-160/month (depending on your location and if you want lessons in my home or yours). (Please see my Studio Policy for more detailed information) PRACTICE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
(Please read my articles "Your Child & Practicing" & "Practicing for Adults") Regular practice will make your lessons easier and more inspiring. However, practicing is also a skill to learn and everyone has different levels of diligence. I have a "no guilt" approach. I take each lesson from wherever you are because feeling guilty or bad doesn't work. I do encourage everyone to develop a healthy practice endurance because it will quadruple your learning capacity. Basically, learning the piano is like driving Fred Flinstone's car (cartoon tv show) - you go as fast as you peddle. If you hit a hill, I will help push you up. When you gain momentum you will not have to work so hard.
It is most important to show up to your lessons regularly (whether you feel like it or not) so you can retain the information from the previous lessons. Sliding backwards is easy to do until you reach a certain level of proficiency.
IT'S IMPORTANT MY STUDENTS ENJOY MUSIC &
CELEBRATE THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS I try to incorporate my students favorite songs so they can feel motivated through the more challenging parts of learning music. I also am consistently rewriting and revising my program as I add to my own knowledge through further study and interests. I strive to create a program I would be excited about if I were my own student. The latest revision to my teaching is the Reward Program. This is where my students earn a chance to create their own album by attaining practice points ("Miss Mandy Dollars").
